2014 Rocky Mountain Book Award Nominees

Although the start of the reading program for the Rocky Mountain Book Award does not begin officially until November, recently the University of Lethbridge bookstore posted the list of twenty nominated titles.  These books, for readers in Grades 4 through 7, are the basis for Alberta's readers' choice program.  The books, which must have been published in the last two years in Canada, include both fiction and non-fiction titles which "portray a broad range of family, social, and cultural backgrounds." The time-line for this book award is as follows:
  • Shortlist of twenty titles: announced officially in November;
  • Reading: takes place from November to April;
  • Voting by young readers: takes place from mid-March to mid-April;
  • Winner: announced at the end of April.
